Tenchi Muyo has 3 different series all revolving around the same characters. This is a very funny harem series with Tenchi stuck in the middle, all series are based on science fiction, comedy, relationships.
Tenchi is the hero 2 of the many girls have crushes on him and fight over him all the time. There is a genius, a couple of space police, a little girl and Tenchi's father and grandpa.
Tenchi- strong, brave, half alien not shy but indecisive, all the friends revolve around him.
Ryoko- strong, alien space pirate, knows what she wants, tries to get Tenchi to be intimate with her.
Ayeka- a space princess which has the same blood as Tenchi, also fights with Ryoko to be with Tenchi, a bit snobbish but good hearted.
Sasami- Ayeka's sister most mature out of the girls, cooks well, and is very sweet.
Washu- a alien super genius use to be evil, but because of Tenchi's friendship she is good.
Mihoshi and Kiyone- A couple of space pirates Mihoshi is very klutzy and is a airhead, Kiyone the more mature and best friend of Mihoshi, says Mihoshi holds her back but wont leave her.
Ryo-Ohki- is Ryoko's space ship that can take the form of a tiny bunny that meows.
Tenchi's grandfather Yosho- turns out to be part of the same royal family Ayeka is from.
This is a great anime about relationships, friendships, and doing whatever it takes to protect the one you love, with great action and comedy.
Please Twins is a funny spin off of Please Teacher with some of the original characters. Some of the characters you may remember is Mizuho, Kaede, and the last episode you see in the end; all of the original characters meet up.
Maiku is a programmer and is only in high school; he is currently alone. one day a redhead named Miina; comes to him showing a picture of when they were kids, saying they are twins. Maiku is annoyed but in the end lets her stay. A day or two later another girl named Karen comes with the same picture saying she is his twin. All three have the same picture and they all i have blue eyes, but only one is related to Maiku.
The three not only have to deal with the fact that one may be family to Maiku, but the girls get feelings for him, Miina's is more perverted with real love, and Karen loves him but don't understand her feelings.
Maiku- is uptight and likes things his way, he is also the most mature of the three.
Miina- is hyperactive, physical, and slightly perverted, she makes the plans out of the two girls.
Karen- is the shy, quiet, sweet type, that can cook, she also faints when surprised which happens a lot.
The last episode they do find out who is the sister and the other fears being kicked out, Maiku says he will do anything to have them both stay which includes even marrying the non sister. You have to find out yourself who the sister is, this show is a definite must watch but I strongly suggest watch Please Teacher first.
Please Teacher is very funny and romantic, (haha) I seem to like those anime. Please Teacher is about a boy who has a disease where he goes comatose after feeling emotional stress called standstill. the boy Kei at 15 went into a standstill for 3 years, but all his memories and body is still like he was 15.
One day he sees a alien spaceship and witnesses a beautiful woman, just then he goes into a standstill. Kei wakes thinking everything was a dream, going to school the next they get a new teacher; the beautiful red head Mizuho.
Kei remembers her and she tries to stop him from telling anyone, getting accidentally stuck in the sports closest. The principle opens the door, and she almost gets fired but Kei and his family step up, and say he is married to her and he is actually 18. Kei and Mizuho quickly make up the papers get married and live together and they barely know each other.
Now Kei and his beautiful teacher have to learn to love each other after marriage, while not telling his group of their married.
Characters: Kei - held back, learns that in order to stop going into standstill he must move forward with his emotions.
Mizuho- beautiful, naive, teacher of the group of characters, jealous, sweet, and half alien.
Koishi- Kei's closest friend she loves Kei, because he seems more mature than regular boys, causes relationship issues between Kei and Mizuho.
Ichigo- the shortest of the group, says things beyond her age, likes being mischievous.
Kaede- tall, red head, shy, quiet, easily blushes, and later in the series gets in a relationship with one of the guys.
Hyosuke- loud, obnoxious, dreams of a world outside his little town, one of the more funny characters.
Matagu- the most shyest of guys, dreams of meeting a alien in real life, even considers confessing his love but his shyness stops him.
Marie- Mizuho's ship control and a very funny little creature that loves pocky.
All other characters you will have to see in the anime, because I consider this group the main characters. I'm going to talk about Please Twins a spin off of this anime with a few of the original characters, please watch this first.
Oh My Goddess! is a favorite anime of mine, its a romance and comedy; that is different than most I've seen.
This anime is about Keiichi a college student that has constant bad luck. Keiichi is in the motorcycle club and gets stuck with all the chores, During the chores he tries to make call for something he forgot to do.
The call gets redirected to the Goddess hotline, and Belldandy appears before Keiichi. Belldandy offers any wish he may want, not believing her he jokingly wishes for Belldandy to be by his side forever, which of course came true. Anything that tries to separate them will be stopped, example: because theres a girl in the dorm, the club members kicked him out of the dorm.
The first night together they slept in a car, getting to know each other. Because Belldandy did a little magic, they got a place to live at a monks house, soon after he sees Belldandy singing heavenly and decides he isn't holy enough and needs to go on a trip giving them the house totally. Belldandy is pretty much Keiichi's good luck charm but as you can tell through the series he loves her and she loves him.
Keiichi takes forever to makes a move, I don't think he even kisses her till closer to the end. What makes it worst is Belldandy 2 sisters come to live with them. Urd is the eldest sister and is part devil, she is very sexy, lazy, loves television, and is always trying to make Keiichi's relationship with her sister to go faster by trying to make him have sex with her. Skuld is the youngest genius and and wants all Belldandy's attention, absolutely cant stand Keiichi being near Belldandy.
This anime is great and i suggest watching it, there are 2 series and a movie.
Witch Hunter Robin is a fantasy drama, action, and secret society type anime. The story is about STN-J a company called SOLOMON, But it mostly revolves around a STN-J member Robin.
Robin is a craft user of fire, whom was raised in a catholic church in Italy. Robin is the newest member of the group, she is very antisocial but grows to get use to her group. The main plot is her and the group of friends catch awaken witches, witches could be anyone and it seems when they awaken there power drives them insane or murderous. SPOILER: as Robin realizes herself she finds out the witches that they capture is actually taken to do horrible experiments on to find the witch gene, to be used in war.
Characters: Robin is a 15 year old girl with fire-kinesics, she has the memories of a 1000 witches, and wants peace with humanity and witches.
Amon is Robin's partner and vowed to kill her if she becomes destructive, he isn't a witch but has the gene.
Haruto is the second newest member because of it he is afraid of Robin replacing him, and does reckless things because of it.
Michael is the hacker of the group, he is either to work for the group or die, and therefor cant leave the building.
Miho has the power to read the past and past emotions of objects that have been touched or around others. she tries to help Robin get even better with her craft.
Yurika is a lazy, vain, and immature young lady whom is a undercover intelligence for SOLOMON, to find more info on Orbo.
Chief Inspector Shintaro a short tempered main that updates the progress of the group to the upper guy.
Tokuma transforms witch blood into Orbo, which is used to stop witches.
all in all its a great anime a definite must watch a few times over.
Love Hina is perverted, Harem, comedy, with the main story about a romance. First i'm giving the main story then ill talk about each character.
Keitaro had a childhood crush whom loved him back, she moved as a kid and they made a promise to get in Tokyo-U together. Keitaro is a loser by all means very uncoordinated and has failed the test to get into Tokyo-U 2 times. Keitaro is about to get kicked from home, and gets stuck being manager at Hinata house, a all girl apartment building his grandmother owns. Keitaro has to manage his time in the apartment and try to keep his promise to a girl that he cant even remember her name.
Characters: Keitaro- loser in all meaning of the word.
Naru- a girl in the apartment that studies hard for a secret to be in Tokyo-U as well. becomes Keitaro's crush as well giving him mix emotions about the girl he promised.
Mutsumi- a girl Naru and Keitaro meet while on vacation very klutzy and sickly very resilient. SPOILER: Mutsumi turns out to be the girl Keitaro promised as a kid.
Shinobu- a 13 year old in the anime Keitaro helps her go through her parents divorce and starts living in the apartment. shes a great cook and friend but very shy and held back.
Motoko- a very powerful samurai type fighter, hates men because her sister quit martial arts for a man; believes in the old ways.
Kaolla- 14 year old that lives in the apartment, a foreigner. she is very hyper and childish and a genius inventor.
Mitsune- a freelance writer that lives in the apartment; but spends most of her time drinking, partying, blackmailing Keitaro, and teasing him.
This is a very funny anime but mostly perverted, so if you don't like that kind of stuff you wont like it. A must watch for us perverts.
Ai Yori Aoshi is a 1 season anime mostly a romance with some comedy, about a couple promised to each other since childhood.
Kaoru is a college student who was born from a rich father but never married his mother. Kaoru mother was poor and when his father died his grandfather took care of him. Kaoru is now living in his own apartment, going to college and have a few friends.
Kaoru was meant to be married to a girl from another rich family named Aoi, but when he walked out on the family canceled the arrange marriage.
Aoi runs off to find her childhood friend Kaoru because she only wants him. for a few days they live in his apartment she wants to be a traditional Japanese wife that cooks, cleans stays home, loves her husband. Kaoru loved her since childhood but never understood his feelings.
Miyabi a servant of Aoi allows Kaoru and Aoi to be together. Miyabi also allows Aoi and Kaoru to move to the family summer house and cant tell anyone their together so their isn't a media uproar.
now heres the funny part Kaoru has beautiful female friends whom dorm up at there house, even though Aoi doesn't mind they cant get a real private time with each other to be in love, and they cant tell their friends their together. Kaoru and Aoi love flourish but slowly because of the interruptions, and in the end Kaoru steps up to Aoi's father and makes him, to allow them married.
this is a great anime and only reason I found it was because I watched it through a streaming site, definitely a must watch.
DearS is a very funny anime series only lasting 13 episodes. Dears Follows along the type of anime that is Chobits, with very similar plots. Both anime have a man whom either gets stuck with or takes a girl into his home. DearS and Chobits have a conflict interest, Chobits he has to decide if its okay to love a android, DearS the main character has to decide if its okay to love an alien woman with a small twist.
A year ago aliens have crashed landed on Tokyo bay, and now are becoming transfer students to become more familiar with human customs.
Takeya a 17 year old who lives on his own, has to go to school where everyone loves DearS. Takeya thanks to his life long friend Neneko has a fear of aliens, from alien horror films watched as a kid.
Takeya finds a naked girl whom kisses him then passes out, he reluctantly takes her home and takes care of her. Her name is very hard to pronounce so he calls her Ren.
Takeya and Neneko decides to pass her off as the new Transfer student, after magically learning how to speak from instantly reading all the grammar books. Takeya soon finds out from Ren that kiss meant she was his slave from now on, and all DearS are slaves and there masters didn't give a damn about them.
Throughout the series Ren learns the meaning of the emotion love, and Takeya Accepts her as his slave; after the others call her defective and tries to take her away. DearS is way more perverted than Chobits, The slaves dress and act a lot like BDSM(Bondage slave/master relationships) slaves. Takeya's grammar teacher rights sex novels and constantly tries to make her students do or say perverted stuff. EXAMPLE: Ren's getting human clothes and she runs out to Takeya trying to get approval in her lingerie, the teacher catches them and thinks there having a three way with Neneko and wants to join but can't.
DearS is a great funny anime, with similarities to Chobits and asks that all important question, is it morally okay to be in love outside our species. It's a short anime so I suggest watching it and only buying if u fall in love with it. On a side note tell me your favorite anime that some people may not know and i'll watch it and blog it, and even give a shout out to the first person that suggested it.
Ponyo is the latest film from Miyazaki well the latest I know of. Ponyo is like a Japanese version of the Little Mermaid. This movie is another film that portrays fantasy, innocents, and true love. ENTIRE MOVIE SPOILER:
Ponyo's father keeps her in a aquarium along with her sisters, as he works to keep the ocean balanced. Ponyo is very curious and the most powerful of her sisters, like most children she is very curious and runs off to see the world.
Ponyo(which looks like a goldfish at the moment with a human face) meets a young boy named Sosuke. Sosuke helps Ponyo out of a jar, and ends up cutting himself which Ponyo licks; and the wound heals up.
Ponyo goes and shows the elderly the magic fish; where his mom works, then he tries to hide it while is in school; which fails and he runs back to the nursing home. While this is happening Ponyo's father searches for her and takes her back, making Sosuke very sad and feels like he failed her.
Ponyo escapes after drinking all her dads elixirs, her and her sisters become very powerful and help Ponyo find Sosuke. During all this the sea becomes very unbalanced and creates a typhoon. Ponyo finds Sosuke and she looks like a human girl now. Sosuke's mom goes to the nursing home to help the elderly, while Sosuke takes care of Ponyo.
Sosuke and Ponyo go on a little adventure after the storm dies down, to find his mom; they use Sosuke's toy boat enlarged through Ponyo magic. During this most the elderly, Sosuke's mom, and Ponyo's mom and dad are talking down at the bottom of the ocean. Ponyo's dad gets Sosuke and Ponyo as she is tuckered out from the journey. Ponyo's and Sosuke's mom ask Sosuke if he truly loves Ponyo and will always protect her, and that in order to be with Sosuke she has to give up magic. Ponyo and Sosuke agree and everyone goes back to surface and the oceans completely okay, And to finish the deal Ponyo kisses Sosuke to be full human.
This movie is very magical and romantic and will make you feel like a child again a definite add to the Miyazaki collection for the entire family.
This is a Isao Takahata film but its from Studio Ghibli, so I want to talk about this film. This anime has no English voice overs, but its worth watching it subtitled.
Taeko is a 27 year old single women that has always lived in Tokyo. In the era She lives in thats real old to be single, Taeko works in a boring business. Every year Taeko takes a vacation to the country side to her elder sister in laws. During this years trip and while there, she starts thinking about herself in fifth grade.
The films goes from her past back to present, a few things she remembers is getting hand me downs, first and last time her father ever hit her, almost becoming famous, her first Period, first crush, feeling sad for a poor boy, etc...
During the trip she meets up with a friend of the family, they get along very well. SPOILER: Her past self and friends help her decide not to go home and marry the guy ending the show with a Japanese version of "The Rose".
This movie is very simple, beautiful, and i admit as a guy crying to this film. This anime is a romance, and realization genre; a definite watch.
Pom Poko is a very beautiful movie, its about the 1960's when development started in Tomo Hills on the outskirts of Tokyo. This is back when there was natural farms, and they worked together with nature.
The main story is about the raccoons and in minor the foxes, this story is as if the what the legends about raccoons and foxes were true, they can transform. The raccoons start realizing there land is getting smaller, and have a few leaders journey to the best transformers, the younger generation practice transforming, and during spring do NOT procreate.
Pom Poko goes through 2-3 years during the development of the town. The raccoons try many ways to scare the people away, and work on a few people but all it did was made more people move in.
The leaders finally show up after a year, and they help create a scary parade, which people thought it was a gimmick which a theme park took credit for it. the raccoons pretty much give up, but then the foxes show up and try to make a deal for the raccoons that can transform pretend to be humans and live among us. which means the ones that can't they would have to let die.
The raccoons do one last thing and transform the hills back to the original way, just for one last moment in there old lives. The ones that can transform live among humans, the others live every day as if there last. When the raccoons transformed the lands(an illusion) the humans make parks and some area where animals can live.
Pom Poko(Raccoon Wars) is a funny but very sad movie which tries to tell us humans how we affect our world and wild life. Parents before you let your kids watch; the artist does draw the animals natural with there genitals, even some jokes are used with them. This is a great Miyazaki film and I definitely would add this to your collection.
Princess Mononoke is another film from Miyazaki that portrays Primal nature, fantasy, and human greed.
Ashitaka the last prince of his tribe, fights with a demon boar which was once a god. During the battle Ashitaka is wounded in the arm, he takes it to the wise woman, and she tells him its a curse that will spread through him and kill him. Ashitaka goes west with his red elk Yakul. Upon departure he cuts his hair which represents permanent leave of his home, he take a metal ball with him which was lodge in the boar.
Ashitaka finds meets up a with a greedy monk Jigo, which helps him buy rice telling the people the gold he had was worth 3 or 4 bags of rice. The gold attracts thieves, making Ashitaka have to defend himself, Ashitaka finds out his demon arm causes super strength decapitating the thieves with arrows going faster than normal.
Iron town a town nearby clears forest to make coal for melting down there iron. The town is attacked by wolf gods and their adopted human girl San, repeatedly trying to get the humans to leave. Many humans die a couple are injured falling to what seems their deaths.
Ashitaka finds these men and carries them to there home, which he gets a warm welcome from the women(ex prostitutes saved from brothels). Ashitaka meets Lady Eboshi the leader of the town and finds out its there iron bullets that drove the boar god crazy. Ashitaka is barely able to control the demon arm from the rage he felt, then and there the wolf girl San tries to kill Lady Eboshi. Ashitaka stops both of them and goes with San to the forest to meet the God of life and death (The Forest Spirit).
Ashitaka finds out outside humans are going to kill the god for its head, the boar gods enraged are going to attack the city, and the iron town is preparing for war. This is the second Miyazaki film I seen; and has great emotional depth, i'd definitely add this to your collection of family films. You may want to watch it first before letting your kids watch it because of the violence.
This Miyazaki film has great aspects of all his films; true love, child innocents, nature in danger, and action.
Sheeta a young girl is kidnapped by the army; lead by Muska. The airship that Sheeta is on gets attacked by air pirates lead by their mother Dola. During the attack Sheeta steals her pendant back and tries to escape, as the pirates try to Knapp her, Sheeta falls to what seems her death.
Pazu a orphan mining boy sees Sheeta floating down because of her pendant, Pazu catches her and takes her home. Sheeta and Pazu start talking and finds out how Pazu's father took a picture of the legendary Laputa, and that Sheeta is part of the people whom lived in Laputa but left yeas ago.
Dola and her sons, and the army find Sheeta and the kids run down the mines, where they meet this wise man that can understand the earths feelings. Sheeta gets kidnapped by the army again, and Pazu makes a deal with the pirates to get Sheeta back.
The army uses Sheeta to show the way to Laputa, Pazu is able to save Sheeta but Muska still has the stone which directs him. The pirates become like the kids family and they follow Muska to Laputa. Muska uses the power of the stone to kill all his men and send out sentinels(which look a lot like the one from valley of the wind) Pazu has to save Sheeta once again, in the end Pazu and Sheeta use a bad spell to destroy Laputa.
This is great for family movie or anybody else a definite must buy.
This is an amazing movie which has a lot of the sames themes as Avatar, but is on earth set a 1000 years in the future of us completely destroying the ecosystem, from a war.
The story revolves around Nausicaa a smart and beautiful girl, whom loves nature animals and all people. Nausicaa and her people live in a valley which has the purest air, which is needed because most of the world has developed a toxic forest that even the air in it is very toxic.
Nausicaa studies the plants and giant insects to see why their so toxic. She has in her house the most toxic of plants with the purest water and soil, finding out the jungle isn't toxic, its actually absorbing the toxins we put into the earth and the bugs are protecting the forest.
As usual humans wan't to destroy something that they don't understand, there is war going on between 2 countries. Their fighting over a ancient weapon, a giant robot that can burn everything in its path and there going to use it on the forest and other counties.
Nausicaa ends up stopping the fight but already the plan went out, they were going to use a baby insect to make the rest go wild and leave the forest, to kill everyone in the other cities. Nausicaa sacrifices herself in front of the animals and it calms the beasts so they go back to the forest. there was a ancient story of a man in blue that walked in a field of gold, that a old woman told; that was passed down from her family. SPOILER: Nausicaa in the end is wearing blue, and the insects lift her and are mourning her, there feelers are golden, Nausicaa awakens walking on the feelers, making it look like the golden field.
This is one of Miyazaki's older films and is one of his greatest about how use humans need to take care of the earth and wild life, or there will be consequences. next blog i'll talk about Castle in the Sky which has a lot of the same themes.
Howl's Moving Castle is a beautiful love story, set in a fantasy about wizards, war, and I think in Europe setting. Howl's Moving Castle is about a young hatter named Sophie, she is plain in every way; while her sister and mother are very beautiful blonds. One day Sophie is walking to her sisters, but runs into Howl a wizard whom is running from the Witch the Waste.
After speaking with her sister Sophie goes to work, working late a woman comes in after hours; Sophie denies her business since there closed, the women (the Witch of the Waste) Curses Sophie to be a 90 year old woman that can't speak to anyone about the curse.
Sophie at 90 tries to climb the miles of hills to get back to the witch, and have her stop the curse. Sophie helps a magical turnip scarecrow, so he helps her to a moving castle for shelter. Where Sophie meets Calcifer a fire demon running the house, a boy Markl an apprentice, and Howl again. Howl lets Sophie stay as the house cleaner. Calcifer is cursed to never leave the house, and realizes right away Sophie is cursed and tries to make a deal to help each other.
Sophie helps Howl by going to see his trainer, Howl made an oath to go into war when needed. Sophie (playing as Howls mother) goes into the castle to decline his invitation, at the castle they steal the Witch of the Wastes powers. Sophie gets mad and starts yelling at Madame Suliman, then Madame realizes Sophie's in love because Sophie turns back to herself temporarily. Howl jumps in and helps them escape to the castle as he fights off other wizards. Now Sophie and the witch is staying there at the castle. Sophie finds out as a kid Howl gave Calcifer his heart, when howl is very weak from the battle and the house has fallen apart, Sophie saves Howl by giving Howl his heart back, releasing his curse, gives Turnip Head a kiss and he turns back to a prince, which can stop the war. Sophie is finally herself but her hair is still silver as starlight, and her and Howl stay together as a couple.
This is a 2004 Miyazaki film and is my wifes favorite movie and one of mine, id definitely ad this to your collection as a fantasy romance, comedy.
Kiki's Delivery Service the first anime i ever watched and the first Miyazaki film. Its a great film about growing up, family, and friends, and finding your place in the world.
The story goes Kiki is in training to be a witch, at 13 a witch must live on there own for a year, to especially train in whatever field they decide. Kiki says goodbye to her friends and family, and leaves on her journey with her cat Jiji whom she can talk to. They finally find a city after sleeping in a train full of cattle, a beautiful city by the ocean and a Big Ben like clock tower.
At first Kiki can't find a place to stay and gets frustrated, she helps a baker Osono by transporting a pacifier back to a mother whom accidentally left it. Osono offers to let her stay in the upstairs room as long as she helps around the place, Kiki also meets a boy named Tombo whom at first greeting upset her.
Kiki decides her only witch skill is flying so she decided to make a flying delivery service, during her delivery's she makes a couple friends, 2 old ladies Madame and her worker Bertha, and a artist Ursula that lives in the forest.
Soon after working while and becoming friends with Tombo, Kiki loses her powers and is devastated. Ursula meets up with Kiki and decides to have a sleep over to help get flying off her mind, and to paint Kiki. after getting rest and Ursula explains how she sometimes cant draw, and that inspiration will come to her; Kiki goes home. The very next day Kiki sees on the news about a blimps test flight and her friend was on it, the winds pick up and Tombo gets in danger and is about to crash into the clock tower.
This movie is a great loving movie, after I saw when I was like 12 I wanted to watch it again so bad, took me forever to find it. Kiki's Delivery Service is a must add to your Miyazaki collection.
Spirited Away is one of the most seen of his movies, if u haven't seen it your one of the few. Spirited Away is another Miyazaki film, which about a child in a fantasy place, like i said in my last post pretty much all his movies involve children learning a lesson or young adult, in a alternate place may it be fantasy or nature.
Chihiro(10) is sullen about moving away from her friends to a new place. Chihiro like most kids get fussy, and pouts the whole trip. The father gets lost and they end up at this old gate, Chihiro wants to stay behind because shes scared but goes with them anyway through it. What they find appears to be a rundown theme park, as they go through they find a buffet with no one there. Chihiro feels like they could get inn trouble and walks off as her family pigs down thinking they will pay after the meal.
As it turns night the spirits come, because it turns out this place is a bridge to the spirit world, Chihiro runs to her parents finding out their turned into pigs. The owner of the place; a witch, makes Chihiro runs into a boy named Haku he decides to help her, he sneaks Chihiro into the bath house and up into the bosses office, she asks for job, because Haku tells her about the creed they cannot turn anyone down a job. The witch makes a contract with her, and takes away her name and give Chihiro a new one, Haku tells her to remember her name its how the witch keeps you from going home.
Chihiro goes on the journey of working at the bath house and finding a way to free her parents, she grows up and learns about true love and that change can be an adventure to. Most of Miyazaki films are great for the family and young at heart, a definite classic and a must watch. I suggest adding this to your Miyazaki collection.
Howdy all; next week or so i'm going to talk about Miyazaki films. The first one i'm Talking about is My Neighbor Totoro, like in most Miyazaki films he doesn't use computers through 98% percent of it, and draws about ancient forest gods or nature in general. in all the films I notice he uses children to teens as the main characters.
In this film the main characters are Satsuki(10) and Mei(4), the children with their father moved to rural japan to closer to there mother of long term illness. Right from the start when dads working at home and Satsuki is at school, Mei goes off into this forest thicket, where she meets Totoro a forest god, and starts playing on top his belly when he tries to sleep. You may have seen this scene from southpark with Cartman and kuthulu, I usually like southpark but that episode annoyed making fun of a great movie like this.
Throughout the movie her and her sister meet up with Totoro. Satsuki First meeting is when shes holding Mei waiting at the bus for her father in the rain. Totoro takes them into a cat bus and have an adventurous ride, until they meet up with father. As you see in the above picture, they meet up again late one night while Mei is impatiently waiting for there garden to grow, Totoro takes the girls to dance around the garden and make them magically grow. The very next day they weren't huge like last night but they finally sprouted.
This movie takes you back to your childhood, with beautiful art, funny situations and even back to a child's love of their mom when there in the hospital. If you have seen spirited away, or Ponyo, or even Valley of the Wind you will love this, i'll be talking about those other movies soon, I definitely suggest collecting all of Miyazaki's movies.
Spiral is a great anime if you like detective and drama. Spiral is about a boy named Ayumu a genius and great pianist; but he could never be as great as his older brother and that bothers him, he wants to be a separate person from his brother. Ayumu is left by himself and his sister in law, because his brother disappears with one last phone call; all he says is "Blade Children". Madoka (Ayumu's sister in law) is a cop and works all day to keep up with bills.
Ayumu doesn't bother to try in school, he is to depth in thought about his brother. Ayumu ends up meeting Hiyono a blond, energetic, journalist for the school. Soon a murder happens in his school, and through Ayumu's Genius and Hiyono's hacking skills they figure the case.
Ayumu soon learns that the murder and soon to be murders are caused one way or another because of the Blade Children. As the story goes he gets tested by the blade children, the reasoning is because his brother told them that Ayumu could be there savior of the curse. The Blade Children are different through the fact they have one less rib, and have cat like eyes. They never fully explain why everyone is trying to kill them except for that there cursed. "SPOILER" The iris Ayumu's brothers favorite flower is mentioned a lot through the series.
This anime is great for its drama, detective work, some comedy, and maybe romance. Its definitely a must watch. Its not on air anymore so you either have to buy the box-set like me, or find a anime streaming site.
Excel Saga is one of those anime that barely follows a plot. The Plot of Excel Saga is about 2 girls Excel and Hyatt that are trying to take over the world one city at a time for Lord Palazzo; and there group called Across.
Palazzo is the leader of Across and all he does is sit on his throne and bark orders at Excel.
Excel is one of the members of Across and absolutely loves Palazzo. Excel is crazy; in the anime she dies repeatedly in every episode. she speaks so fast you can barely understand her.
Menchi is a Pomeranian dog that Excel keeps locked up in her apartment. Menchi is kind of her pet but most of the time when Excel can't afford food Menchi is her emergency food supply. Menchi also gets some side episodes for herself.
Hyatt is the 2nd Across member there is 3rd but that's in the manga not the anime. Hyatt is a martian princess that fell onto Excel; while in her sleep chamber. Hyatt for some reason gets sick in every episode; throws up blood and dies.
The anime has the same plot as the manga; but in a lot of ways different. The creator of Excel Saga has to approve each episode because there contract says the anime storyline cant be like the manga's. Throughout the series Excel and Hyatt has to try to take over the city in a different genre of anime. There is also the department of city security that's is always trying to stop them making up of; Iwata, Sumiyoshi, Watanabe, Matsuya, Ropponmatsu, and Dr Kabapu.
Since this anime has a different genre in each episode; it has many different things; comedy, sadness, action, drama, fan-service, and some romance.
This anime is definitely a must watch but probably would just rent it.
D.N. Angel is romance comedy with action, it involves Daisuke who has a curse that turns him into dark, whom has his own personality.The male in Daisuke gets a curse when they hit 14, they will turn into Dark when they feel true love.
Daisuke from the start loves loves Risa Harada twin of Riku Harada, Risa has long hair cant cook is very prissy but not cruel also has a fascination with psychics and Dark. Riku is athletic, cooks well, tomboyish and down to earth, later on she grows feeling for Daisuke.

Daisuke is kind, artistic, shy, but brave, clumsy but strong, and is a true romantic. Dark is the total opposite he is suave, a flirt, thrives to be his own person.
The plot is this Daisuke has to become Dark a angel art thief because the art there stealing is from a long time rival family that has dark powers which could destroy the town. Soon Daisuke meets Satoshi Hiwatari; a transfer student which is the last member of the family which he steals from.
Hiwatari has an alter ego of an white angel Crad whom is pure evil. Even though Crad is evil, Hiwatari is confused and rivals Daisuke, Hiwatari in the end befriends Daisuke.
SPOILER: As the story goes on Daisuke love seems to diminish from Risa And transfers to Riku, towards the middle of the series Riku and Daisuke start dating and talk nonstop.
This anime is great for its storyline, its conflicting emotions in each character makes the anime beautiful in romance but don't think its just romance; D.N. Angel has really funny moments and some great action. D.N. Angel is definitely a must watch.
Fruits basket is a great series for who love Shojo. There are quite a bit of characters in this anime but I'm going to talk about the three main characters. This anime has two parts of a story that makes one, this anime will make you laugh and cry.
One part of the story is mainly about the zodiac animals. There is this family called the Sohma family, they are cursed when hugged by the opposite sex they turn into the animal they represent in the zodiac calender. The 2 main ones are Yuki and Kyo. Yuki turns into the mouse of the zodiac, he is very proper in the family because the leader use to abuse him physically and emotionally; like most in the family they believe they can never be accepted by anyone. Kyo is the outcast of the family because he is the cat, and if you know the zodiac calender there is no cat, he isn't even accepted by his family, through out he thinks if he beats Yuki he will be accepted. Kyo is pretty much an outcast from outcasts, and has a very sad story i won't say to much more.
The second part of the story is about Tohru Honda, a girl whose mother died when she was young, never scene her father and lives with her grandfather. Her grandfather is getting the house renovated and asks her if she can live with one of her friends for a few months. Tohru being the very selfless type didn't want to bother her friends Arisa and Saki. Tohru decides to live in a tent and do all her homework, and work hard on her job with no help. Tohru Honda let me explain; she is very selfless she wanted to finish school for her mom, she works very hard, and doesn't want to be handed anything, she also finds the best in anyone, one flaw is she has little common sense.
How the stories come together; Tohru's tent she lives in for one night, finds out she accidentally lived on Sohma land. Kyo, Yuki, and Shigure the owner of the house and is the dog zodiac; let her stay with them but she wont let herself stay for free so they agreed to have her clean and cook. Later on she finds out there secret; and most that do get there memories wiped. Tohru didn't because they felt she was special. The Sohma family was very right; every member she meets her; her natural goodness helps each member get over a mental issue they have because the family there in. there is a quote im going to say to end this blog, i suggest to definitely watch this series and read the manga to go further in this wonderful story.

Howdy folk, I wanted to talk about this anime after Azumanga Diaoh because they have closely related plots, but are very different indeed. First of all how there the same, both Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh are about young high school girls going through everyday life within 3 years, they even both have a weird pervert that likes teen girls.
How Lucky Star is different, these girl are very random I mean random; there conversations will have you going wtf. Also Lucky Star has quite of references to anime, manga, and video games. The main anime they reference is "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya". Some of the random conversations are; how you eat your food, why isn't real life like video games or anime, why does your hair dry out after swimming and etc... now that i said what most of the anime is about ill explain each characters personality.
Tsukasa: younger twin sister of Kagami; she is a airhead, shy, sweet, loves to cook and sow, doesn't study well.
Konata: shortest of the group and hates it. Konata is a lot like me; she loves gaming, reading manga, watching anime, loves anime conventions. Konata is very lazy and crams for exams in a night, and loves copying work from Kagami.
Kagami: elder twin sister of Tsukasa; shes is the opposite Tsukasa. Kagami works hard, gets good grades, argues with Konata, likes games but more of a shooter genre, Konata is more of RPG and Sim dates gamer. Kagami doesn't like manga and Konata doesn't understand how she doesn't fall asleep while reading without pictures.
Miyuki: is the smartest and most adult looking. Miyuki knows pretty much everything all of them call her for all the answers, she is also very clumsy, forgetful when she concentrates on other things, and has that girl with glasses thing going for her. Konata always calling her molle(probably didn't spell it right.) Which means cute by your faults.
This anime has quite a few other characters like parents and family of the main characters, even teachers; but I felt the main characters are more important to explain. If you love Azumanga Diaoh i definitely suggest this anime.

Azumanga Daioh is one of those classic anime that everyone has seen. This anime has one of those plots that aren't really amazing. The plot is these main group of girls that goes through 3 years of high school, with some minor characters like Kaori a girl who has a crush on Sakaki, a teacher Yukari which is there English homeroom teacher that's not the best at her job and likes to party, Minamo a gym teacher which is Yukari's best friend and is liked by all students, and Kimura creepy teacher who admits only being a teacher for all the girls; and has a crush on Kaori.
Throughout the 26 episode series they go though 3 years sophomore, junior, senior year. The main reason this show is so popular is because of the characters so I'm going to explain the main group of girls in more detail.
Yukari And Minamo
Yomi is the average girl; she worries about her weight, worries about school and her future. Yomi is the more down to earth character which is why its so funny she is best friends with Tomo.
Tomo is a spunky, hyperactive, easily offends, loud, and one of the air head characters. Tomo won't leave Yomi's side, she loves to compare sizes, the only reason she was able to get in the same school as Yomi is because she worked her butt off for the entrance exam; just to prove Yomi wrong.
Osaka; how to explain her? Osaka is a country girl from Osaka; but even there she was weird. Osaka is very slow, falls asleep in class, and listens to everything Tomo says.
Kagura doesn't show up until year 2; Kagura is the average tomboy girl, she loves sports, being outside, getting tans. Kagura believes Sakaki and her are rivals, but Sakaki doesn't really care. Kagura will try to beat her in anything like sports down to eating the fastest.
Sakaki is a tall beautiful girl. Sakaki is naturally good at sports, has a great figure, and is good at most things. What she doesn't tell people is she wishes to be shorter and cute like Chiyo, she loves kittens and you find out they hate her, and becomes best friends with Chiyo and her giant dog.
Chiyo; well there isn't much to tell she is a perfect genius that is 10 years old and got in high school, she loves cooking playing with her dog, she wishes she was taller and cool like Sakaki, and deals with child problems of being in high school.
Kaori and Kimura; Kaori is energetic but her main plot is trying to be with Sakaki. Kimura is a major pervert whom loves high school girls, but gets a crush on Kaori and freaks her out throughout the series.
Yukari and Minamo; Yukari is the English home room teacher best friends since childhood with Minamo. Yukari is lazy, late, always comparing herself to Minamo. Minamo is the gym and home room teacher for another class. Minamo is the responsible type, but still wants to enjoy life, always taking care of Yukari, and going on trips with Yukari and the girls to the beach. Get Minamo drunk and she says things she shouldn't especially in front of a ten year old girl.
Chobits is another of my favorite anime. Hideki is a country bumpkin, he is a 18 year old man whom wants to go to Tokyo University. He moves to Tokyo to go to cram school. Hideki is a virgin and like most teen virgins he is shy and uncomfortable about sex. Hideki wants something more than college; a Persocom; an android computer which he is to poor to afford.
One day he finds Chi in the trash; a very life like Persocom (Chobit) which you find out later is a super computer Persocom that is very unknown. Chi has had her Operating System erased and yet still can move unlike most Persocom. At first all Chi can say is chi, and Hideki has to teach her everything as if she is a child, even dressing herself. Hideki could buy learning software but he can't afford it, besides what fun would that be.
Through out the season there will be perverted jokes, but this is what i like about anime yes the main thing you notice is perverseness or humor, yet good anime has a hint of a background story. You see Hideki's friends are each affected by Persocom love that either ruins there relationships or make them feel inadequate. Hideki starts to feel love for Chi, and she reads these mysterious books that help her learn her feelings. Hideki has to decide is it right to love a Persocom or should he try to find love in humans. This anime will have you laughing out loud to the perverseness, going awww to Chi's cuteness, and crying for loves sake, and rooting for them both. I hope you fellow blogger's and friends watch this show and give it a true chance before your offended by its perverseness.
Evangelion; has been seen as one of the greatest anime out there based on storyline. The basic story is Nerv a company for destroying angels, so they don't create a third impact. Nerv has 3 kids; Shinji Ikari male, Rei Ayanami silver haired female, and Asuka Langley Soryu red headed German female; all to be in these mech suits (Evangelion).
What the third impact means is that there was this angel that fell to earth which created the 2nd impact or the destruction of earth. the 3rd impact is when an angel gets close enough to Adam the first angel, which will finally cause the destruction of humanity.
The 3 kids are unstable; and no more than Shinji; his father Gendo Ikari is the commander of Nerv and has never paid attention to Shinji since his mother died. The first episode is Shinji finally seeing his father after years, Shinji is the 3rd child that can connect with Evangelion. You find out Shinji is a introvert, and does whatever he is told because he thinks has no choice and wants to please everyone. Throughout the series you learn how unstable these kids really are, towards the end Asuka goes through a breakdown and can't connect with her unit anymore, you learn more about Rei's past, and final two episodes is Shinji's realization.
This anime is mostly drama, action, and psych 101, with some humor and fan-service so you don't go crazy. I suggest watching these 26 episodes the originals, because there making 4 movies to remake the series how they wanted, because the ending well the original ending wasn't a ending at in my standards. Two out of four movies are already out Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0 in English, 2.0 isn't out in English, 3.0 and final hasn't been announced yet. I definitely want you to watch the original series to appreciate the 10 or so years of us fans waiting.

Hey folks here to tell another of my favorite anime; Rozen Maiden. Rozen Maid has two plots the main being the dolls, you see there are these dolls created by Rozen. The 7 dolls have to fight each other in the "Alice Games", in the Alice Games the dolls have human hosts that they take there energy from. the reason they fight is to be the perfect doll to Rozen or "Father". The second plot is about Jun a boy who shuts himself from society, refuses to go to school, and has a hobby of buying weird artifacts on the internet and giving them back before having to be paid for. Rozen Maiden has 3 seasons first season is more about Jun and him being able to befriend these dolls. the second season is more about the plot about Rozen and the Alice Games. The third season is just two OVA episodes. This anime is very depth in emotion, sadness, and has humorous scenes. Example: when Jun first finds Shinko and there living together a while she decides that the toilet will be her throne, Hinaichigo laughs and Jun laughs, Jun whispers what it is for; Shinko's cheeks get so red its very cute, i should explain that Shinko is a bossy doll and is very proper. This anime will have you delved into its story that you wont stop watching until the end. I suggest definitely to watch this anime.
Aoi House is one of my favorite manga. Aoi House is a harem style manga, it starts out with Alexis and Sandy two men in college, and Echiboo Sandy's perverted hamster. Echiboo gets Sandy and Alex in trouble and gets them kicked out of the dorms. The college there says they have to live in a dorm the first year of college; so they search for a dorm, they find a flier for Aoi House must love manga and anime, the two nerds go and apply for the dorm.
The two instantly get in right away, but the manager (Elle) gets in and finds out there not gay. You see its not really Aoi house but Yaoi House. In order to be in the club you have to be gay or a girl into gay manga.

This is one great manga for us nerds; one example "SPOILER" the men are allowed only to shower together with the door open, as Alex tries to sneak in a shower; he walks in on Morgan who has a big crush on him. Hey y'all i have another great anime for you, that most have already seen but I'm still going to talk about it. Death note is a 26 episode series about a teen named Light. Light is a smart young boy living in Tokyo, besides being smart he is mostly normal, until one day Ryuk a Shinigami(Death God) purposely loses his Death Note.
Guess who finds it, that's right Light; reading the rules in it he at first doesn't believe it. Light first tries the death note on a guy who is holding people hostage; then confirms it on the news. Light starts getting obsessed and killing as many criminals he can, thinking he is this great person creating a better world. After a while Interpol and the worlds greatest detective L work together to figure out who is killing everyone, they even name Light; Kira from the English word killer.
I don't want to ruin the rest of the series for you, this anime has suspense, some humor, sorrow, and a whole set of emotions. this anime is well done and is one season long 26 episodes, they made a live action movie but I haven't seen it. I definitely suggest at least watching this once through, then a second time to fully understand it.
Howdy people I want to tell you about one of my all time favorite anime. Ouron host club is one of those anime that's more towards girls; but still is great for everyone. First thing first the main story is about a poor student who got into this rich academy only by their brains; named Haruhi. Haruhi stumbles into this room to find a quiet place to study, she is startled to find a bunch of men "The host club" and ends up breaking a vase they were going to auction off.
The Host Club: Mitsukuni, Kyouya, Tamaki, Haruhi, Hikaru and Kaoru, Takashi.
Character Description: Mitsukuni the cute childlike boy,
Kyouya the cool business sense guy.
Tamaki the oblivious king of the club,
Haruhi the smart loving girl,
Hikaru and Kaoru the mischievous "gay" twins,
Takashi the strong silent protector.
The Host Club is a group of high school boys that swoon and pamper to high school girl fantasies just for the fun of it. Okay back to the story Haruhi is forced to be there slave until she pays off the vase at this point no one realizes she is a girl. Haruhi's glasses fall off and they see her pretty eyes and decide to make her a new member of the team to pay off the vase, of course Tamaki the oblivious king is last to find out she is a girl; which is a funny episode because this is when he first sulks in his corner. through out the series there are a lot of jokes flirting and for you girls; in the anime you never know which guy she ends up with you have to read the manga. There is a hint of of another theme she teaches each of them a different lesson, Tamaki to love, Kyouya to realize he is better than just the youngest brother, The twins to realize they have true friends outside themselves.
All in all; this is a short one season anime that I love; and I suggest that you watch and purchase it.
